| Update 16/01/05 Destroyed Tanks and Smoke Each tank that is destroyed, or is on fire, I place smoke on the table marking it thus. At 'Tea Break' any tanks within 4" of each other I connect the smoke making a LOS barrier. The smoke is NOT removed after two tea break's though like smoke shells. The result of this is that long range guns have a real problem finding targets. After reading accounts of Kursk and Goodwood it is immediately striking how AFVs would hide using burning hulks as cover. We have decided that smoke, of any sort, obscures LOS; and firing therefore, for medium and long ranges. Only troops at short range can see beyond it. They fire at a reduced rate if infantry - one column shift to the right on fireeffect table; or find it harder to hit due to poor visibility if a gun or AFV. If you're going to play with a fair bit of armour it makes for a very interesting game if you tweak the rules so. |
